About the Course

I have never golfed a Course quite as nice as The Gallery Golf Club. I’ve never golfed The Gallery Golf Club either… but it looks awesome!

They will be playing the South Course this weekend, which plays as a par 71 and 7,469 yards.

Expect to see some desert golf (Tuscon, remember?) as this course is nestled right into the natural landscape. It features mounded green complexes and expansive fairways, and has been said to resemble Pinehurst #2 (in other words, one famous golf course looks like another famous golf course.

Player Spotlights

Phil Mickelson (HyFlyers GC) - Phil is one of the most prominent names in LIV and everyone will be looking to him week in and week out. A lot of people credit him with being a driving force for LIV and recent changes across golf. We will see if he comes out this weekend swinging, or if he is a bit wore down from being the front man (ahem… Rory McIlroy)

Henrik Stenson (Majesticks GC) - Looking to repeat a Match Play Championship in 2007 on the same course, Stenson is ready for “a little bit of a trip down memory lane”

Charles Howell III (Crushers GC) - Howell III is looking to go 2-0 this season after taking home the bag in Mayakoba. It’s not easy to string wins together, but Howell III and the Crushers are on fire (more so than the Fireballs even)

Dustin Johnson (4Aces GC) - Dustin Johnson is another HUGE name as one of the most high profile golfers and a dominating force in 2022. He is coming off his highest scoring round as a LIV golfer (78) though and looking to get back to the top of the leaderboard with the rest of his team.

Weather

Looks like a beautiful weekend except for maybe some wind. That doesn’t really start becoming a factor until about 15 mph though, so no excuses.

Fast Facts

  • Sundevils: 5 guys from this weekend played golf for Arizona State University- Phil Mickelson, Pat Perez, Paul Casey, Matt Jones, and David Puig.

  • The 4USAces: 4Aces GC won all 5 of their US tournaments in 2022 and they are looking to keep it going. They finished 2nd in Mayakoba.

  • 24: The number of players that contributed to their teams score in all 3 rounds in Mayakoba. The lowest score (of 4) gets dropped each round

  •  Laurie Canter: will play again for the Cleeks instead of their captain Martin Kaymer. Kaymer is out with a wrist injury. Canter finished 46th at +12 in Mayakoba. Get well soon Kaymer.

Player Profile - Sergio Garcia

A lot of sports earn followings from loyalty to geographic locations, colleges, etc… This is your chance to learn about the LIV golfers and find who you connect with.

Sergio is one of the more storied players on LIV. He won the 2017 Masters, he’s spent more than 450 weeks in the world top 10, and he has earned more points in Ryder Cup’s than any other player. And now, he is a Fireball.

Sergio Garcia

  • Age - 43

  • Birthplace - Castellon, Spain

  • Plays From - Spain

  • Turned Pro - 1999

  • Joined LIV - 2022

  • LIV Team - Fireballs GC

Look at the scorecard in the top left corner. Look at par and the distance.

Now look at the course map. Can you imagine playing through each hole in your head?

Ormsby is making moves to gain a spot on LIV. He played all of the 2022 season and is putting himself in position to return for 2024.

What do sponsors think of recent PGA Tour changes? After all, they need to get money from somewhere.

I’ll bet even Phil Mickelson never hit this shot when he was at ASU.
