LIV Tucson - Down To The Wire š°
Could it be any closer?
LIV Tucson did not disappoint with a 4 way tie for 1st place leading into a playoff.
There were highs - Danny Lee charging from behind to push his way into the playoff.
There were lows - Marc Leishmann walking out with a stick of dynamite in his bag and blowing his lead from 1st to 17th.
Really we got all of the excitement that we hope for in LIV.
Switching up the leaderboard
If you needed a testament to how competitive LIV Golf is or the talent in the field, compare the top of the leaderboards for the first 2 events.
4 players were in the top 10 for both events.
Only 1 team was in the top 3 for both events. (4Aces)
That tells me that there are a lot of guys out there that are a real threat to win. Every. Single. Week.
In fact, we really have yet to see some of the big names step up this season. Everyone out there is fighting. And we can see anyone take the cake any week. (Except maybe Sihwan Kim who has come in last both eventsā¦)
What happened?
Sunday led to some crazy shenanigans as Danny Lee (Iron Heads), Carlos Ortiz (Fireballs), Brendan Steele (HyFlyers), and Louis Oosthuizen (bless you) (Stinger) all came in at 9 under on the weekend.
The playoff ended with:
Danny Lee (Iron Heads): -1
Brendan Steele (HyFlyers): E
Louis Oosthuizen (Stinger): E
Carlos Ortiz (Fireballs): +1
Mayakobaās champ, Charles Howell III, also made a valiant run, but fell just short at -8 on the weekend. That earned him 5th place, but another cool $975,000 to add to his $4 milly from the first event.
On the team front the Fireballs pulled it out with Carlos Ortizās nice weekend and Sergio Garcia coming in not far behind at -7. The team posted a -25 for the tournament to take home the win.
The 4Aces didnāt continue their US winning streak, but they took home their 2nd, 2nd place trophy this year. Charles Howell III balled out again and Peter Uihlein wasnāt far behind with -8 and -6 respectively. Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed were also only a putt or two away. -5 and -4 put them close and their consistency is the reason 4Aces is towards the top again.
Iron Heads took 3rd place at -19 with Danny Lee winning and Kevin Na supporting at -7. Unfortunately Phil Mickelson was seen flying in the clouds and unable to participate with his team for most of the weekend. When asked what he was doing he responded - āI donāt wear these aviators for nothing.ā
I knead the dough:
Individual Payouts (1-10 + ties)
Danny Lee - $4 million
Brendan Steele, Louis Oosthuizen, Carlos Ortiz - $1,558,333.33
Charles Howell III - $975,000
Mito Pereira, Matt Jones, Kevin Na, Sergio Garcia - $670,000
Peter Uihlein, Branden Grace, Matthew Wolff - $516,666.67
Team Payouts
Fireballs GC - $3 million
4Aces GC - $1,500,000
Iron Heads GC - $500,000

Anyone Want To Buy A Team?
Iām a Patriots fan (and I was when Drew Bledsoe was there so I donāt want to hear anything about Tom Brady).
Anytime you watch the Patriots you will hear something about Robert Kraft. The owner. Albeit, sometimes it is about certain massage parlorsā¦ but most of the time it is about football.
Iāve always looked at these guys in awe. Who can imagine owning an entire franchise. Like, you own a football team??? It doesnāt even seem real to just own it.
But you know what? YOU can own a LIV golf team.
Or should I say WE can own a LIV golf teamā¦
Now, Iām not gonna lie. I have no idea how much this costs. Obviously itās not cheap. But LIV has pretty much left the teams on their own now to worry about travel, lodging, trainers, whatever else they have to worry about.
And teams are open to ownership.
Do you think the captains really want to shoulder this financial and business burden along with playing golf? For most players the answer is no.
As an owner, there are 4 ways you can make money from the team:
Winnings - The team wins, you get a couple million dollars
Sponsorships - TaylorMade may be mad at Roryā¦ Maybe there is a LIV play?
Revenue share - LIV golf kicks some revenue back to the teams since, you know, they are the whole reason this thing works
Merchandise - Those RangeGoats hats are fireā¦ We might recoup our investment just on those.
Whether you want to buy a LIV Golf team or not, it is a real story that is going to play out. Probably in the near future.
Let me know what you think about owning a piece of a LIV Golf team by replying to this email.
Want to go in together to buy a team? Definitely reply to this email and we will setup a zoom to figure it out.
It may be a bit of a risky investment, but Iām sure it would be fun as hell, and has the potential to payoff big. Think about it.

Harold Varner hit 14 or 14 fairways on Sunday. What??? Pros average 70%, but 100% is freaking impressive.
